NEWS

August 2025 - Tuesday August 19th Keith, Don and Gary (in his now fixed Roadster) along with Nancy & Lisa in Nancy’s Benz, headed up 395 for a HOT drive to Bridgeport for the night, stopping at Tom’s Place for lunch on the way. Great food and it had started to cool off once we got past Bishop. Wednesday morning we went over Sonora Pass (9,435 feet) which had been recently repaved and was a delight to drive. We stopped at Pinecrest Lake for a bit of relaxation and a Big Freaking Ice Cream Cone. We then headed down the backside with many photo op stops on the way to Twain Heart for the night. Great food once again. The morning saw us head towards Pleasanton for the Goodguys West Coast Nationals, but not before we stopped at Cahoots Cafe in Oakdale for yet another good meal (I sense a pattern hear). We got to the hotel in Pleasanton, and the power went out shorty thereafter while it was HOT! Friday was the show and it was a great event with, you guessed it, some great meals each day in downtown Pleasanton after cocktails with the Bay Area Guys. After a nice Italian dinner, it was back to The Rose where the Bay Area guys and Gary were staying for drinks and lies until midnight, our power had been restored by then, so back to the Marriott for Keith Phill and Don. Saturday was more time at the show visiting with with friends old and new. Sunday morning, Phill and Keith abandoned us! Gary and I had to stick around since Gary won the coveted Stroker McGurk Award and I picked up the Rodders Rep award. We met up with them in Morro Bay for fish dinners on the water before calling it a night. Monday morning we were off and heading down a cool little back road when Keith heard a “POP” and his clutch called it quits. After some circus time with poor cell reception, he was able to limp it back to Buellton, where, after contacting AAA, we left him for the Hot and slow crawl through LA. Everyone made it home and it was a fantastic 7 days overall.

August 8-10-2025 - Big Bear Fun Run. Don and Kevin drove their Roadsters, Chris debuted “Robyn’s” beautiful 62 Galaxie convertible that he just finished. Gary drove up in his BMW since he hadn’t fixed to Roadster after his issues in Canada. Great show and after the cruise around the Lake, Don, Kevin and Chris went to Don’s friend Butch & Maureen’s house to hang out with the Over The Hill Gang for a Taco Party. Good Time! Sunday morning, Don’s 32 RPU was awarded the Best 32 Ford award.

July 2025 - Deuce Days Northwest. I didn’t make it this year, so I don’t have a lot to report, other that the stories told by others. “First Time Reimers” went (in his COUPE!) as did Gary & Lisa and Tom & Briget. Apparently all had a good time, at least on the way up, enjoying all that the beautiful drive and awesome area of Victoria BC has to offer. Going home was a little different story. Jeff “Maybe I Should Have taken The Roadster” Reimers had a recently replaced axle bearing call it quits and the axle walked out of the housing on a curve, luckily getting the car stopped before it came completely out. Time for a tow home. Gary had problems with his Throttle Position Sensor (something that also happened back in September when we were in Wendover UT). He had a spare, but then it failed, and through a series of interesting failures, resets, new ones being shipped (with a funny story about smuggling one into Canada), i finally required a tow home. Luckily Roy Brizio just happened to have a trailer heading to So Cal and was able to take the Roadster. Gary & Lisa rented a car and continued the trip as planned. after he got home, Gary reengineered the mounting of the TPS and cured a poor design that was done by Hilborn 85,000+ miles ago - should be all good from here on out.

April 23-2025 - A few of us met up and went to the Lion's Automobilia Foundation and Museum this past Saturday at the invitation of the L.A. Roadsters.

Dick, Paul, Keith (with his roomie riding shotgun), Kevin, Phill, Gary, Mark, Me, and Frank from LA Roadsters. We met up with Jeff R and Don P who went directly there for a total of 10 C-R Cars.  L.A. only had three Roadsters (Frank, John Buck, and Doyle Gammell) and about 7-8 members. We had a great time and headed to Rocco's for lunch afterwards.

April 5-2025 - Congrats are in order for Danny Hyde. This weekend at Good-Guys Del Mar, he was awarded a very nice Design Award for his beautiful 36 Roadster!

March 9-2025 - Deadline to let President Jeff know if you are planning on attending the Roadster Roundup this year is March 18th. Please email or call Jeff if you are planning on going so the LA Roadsters can insure they have enough rooms reserved. The entry form and hotel info will be forwarded soon, but we need a head count by the 18th. Don’t worry, you won’t be held to it at this point, they just need a good idea of expected attendance.

February 1, 2025 ~ Paul Reiker wins the Tom Thibodeau Award at the Grand National Roadster Show. Tom was an LA Roasters member and long time volunteer at the GNRS, the award is picked by his family for a car that best represents the style of Roadster Tom liked. Congrats Paul!
